Tuam Athletes in the Dublin City Marathon

Tuam AC would like to congratulate everybody who took part in the Dublin marathon on Monday, it is one of life’s great achievements to finish 26.2 miles on foot and it is widely reported that only 1% of the Worlds population ever take part in a marathon. Conditions were tough on Monday with a higher than normal temperature, a fairly strong wind and heavy rain at times and even though we are well used to wind and rain it is not easy to face 26.2 miles of it. The tough conditions certainly didn’t stop the Tuam athletes and there was some outstanding performances including Gearoid Healy with another massive personal best of 3hrs 3 mins and Tommy Joe Whyte finishing very strongly in his 20th Dublin Marathon. Tuam also had three athletes making their debut over the classic distance. John Brinn, Gerry Synott and junior athlete Iarlaith O’Rourke all ran fantastic times and are sure to be back again after enjoying all of the excitement and euphoria of crossing the finish line and Michael McLoughlin added Dublin to his running CV after completing last years Belfast marathon. We hope to have full results next week from all of the Tuam AC runners but in the meantime we hope they enjoy a few days rest and take pride in what they have achieved for themselves, their club and their town.
