Tuam athletes were in fine form at the Annaghdown Summer Solstice 10k race where Enda Mannion ran another personal best to finish in 5th place overall and Thomas Mannion ran his first race as a member of Tuam AC and also ran a massive personal best time. A great start to his running career with Tuam and he was also in action again on Saturday evening in Ballindine at the annual 4 mile guess your own time race.
Dan O’Rourke won his category in Annaghdown against some very serious competition and he has been a consistent performer for Tuam for many years and keeps producing the big results. Other big results from Annaghdown included Dave Mullins, Aiden and Ursula Brady, Michael McLoughlin and Maura Meenaghan.
We were also delighted to hear of two other big results over the weekend. Ann Marie Miskell ran a fantastic race in the Galway Women’s Mini Marathon to finish in 4th place overalll from almost 1000 runners and Seamus Walsh made a stunning return to competition at the Kilkee Hell of the West Tri-Athlon on Saturday. This gruelling Olympic distance event is definitely not for the faint-hearted and Seamus had a great race.
Finally don’t forget the up-coming Headford 8k Road Race which takes place on Saturday 7th July at 7pm. This great local race has gone from strength to strength since it started 8 years ago and is now firmly established as one of the must do events in the running calender.
