Well, it’s the May 5K Series, so the Tuam leg is taking place on May … ahem, June 5th. The race starts @ 8pm sharp.

Where can I park?
The first point of call for parking will be the Ard Ri Hotel. After that, you can park on the Bobby Burke Road, also known as the link road which joins the N17 to the Dunmore road. Please arrive early because parking will be more difficult the later you leave it.

What is the route?
The route is the same as last year. The route starts in Kilcloghans – north of Tuam, and just off the N17. The route contines around Kilcloghans and turns left onto the Ballygaddy Road. A further left turn brings you back to the N17 and the final left turn brings you into “The Meadows” – an estate beside the Ard Ri Hotel.

What’s the route like to run?
Well, we lull you into a false sense of overachievement with the first part of the race, then we separate the wheat from the chaff with the second.

From 0->1K it’s lovely and flat with a slight descent near the end.

1->2K is a steady descent followed by a flat piece. It’s also very shaded around here, so you’ll be out of the wind.

2->3K is a steady ascent – if you went off too fast you’ll feel it here.

3->3.5K is flat, but it’s the calm before the storm of about 100 metres of a steep enough little hill at the traffic lights.

Then from 4K to the end you’ll have crested the hill and it’s slightly downhill followed by a flat section. The last 500 (and 200) metres will be marked on the road so be prepared to oxygen-deprive yerselves to the finish.

I suppose there’ll be food and drink at the finish?
Well because this year Tuam is hosting the final leg of the series there will be some refreshments provided after the race in the Ard Ri Hotel. This will also be where you can collect your series T-shirt if you’ve ran 5 of the 6 races. And we can only know this from the official results, so if for some reason your tag didn’t work or fell off, we’re sorry – no official time means we can’t verify you took part.

Where can I get the results?
Red Tag Timing are providing chip timing and, as well as getting a text message to your phone, the results will also be posted on their website RedTagTiming.com. We will also post the results here as well.

By the way, enjoy the race!
