Tuam are All Ireland Champions again as our team of veterans returned to Connemara recently to defend the team title they won last year. This years race had the added incentive that the first team home would be crowned the first ever All Ireland Adventure Race Champions. Steven Brady, Gerry Synott, Pat Flaherty and Brendan Monaghan made the journey west to Lettergesh where the race started with a steeplechase on the beach over round bales before cycling to Kylemore where they had to tackle an army assault course and then it was back on the bikes to Letterfrack for a quick run up and down Diamond Hill. They somehow managed to save some energy for the 13 mile cycle to Clifden and the finish line in the Showgrounds. The Tuam team won a splendid All Ireland Perpetual Trophy specially commissioned for the event as well as smaller individual trophies. They are now in training to make it 3 in a row in 2012.
