The Tuam 8K is now open for registration

Posted on December 5th, 2010 by Michael

Tuam Athletic Club in association with our chosen charity Tuam Cancer Care present the 2011 New Year 8K Road Race on Sunday 16 Jan 2011 @ 2.30pm. This race is held on a very fast flat course around Tuam and a permit from Athletics Ireland has been applied for. And, for the first time, in 2011 we will have chip timing by redtagtiming.

There is a fantastic cash prize fund and trophies for the first 3 Men and Women, cash prizes and trophies for ALL category winners from O/35 to O/65 Ladies and O/40 to O/70 Men and each 5 years in between. There are also cash prizes and the Corralea Court Perpetual Trophy to winning Men and Women Teams. There will also be cash prizes for 2nd teams. And due to the great response we got last year, we have again this year a 3 pack of top quality Kelanji running socks for the first 300 entries.

As always, there will be hot showers and plenty of post race refreshments. This race represents superb value at only a €15 entry fee. Registration is now available online at Run Ireland. We have already received many more entries online then we had at this stage last year, so be sure to be register early to avoid disappointment. There may be a limited number of spaces available on the day, but this cannot be guaranteed. We will give further updates on this closer to the event. Good luck with your training, and we look forward to seeing you all in Tuam.

JOur sister club Athenry AC hold their ever-popular annual 10K once again this year on St. Stephen's Day at 11 AM.  There are 1500 places available, but as of December 5th there are only 200 places left. You can also enter this race online. The entry fee is €20.

Juvenile training takes place every Wednesday at 7pm in The Mercy Secondary School Gym, Dublin Rd. New members aged 7 yrs upwards are always very welcome every Wednesday night - just turn up on the night and give it a try. All events are covered including sprinting and middle distance running, all throwing events, High Jump and Long Jump.
